After a decade of working through various jobs in the civilian workforce, mostly in the restaurant industry and another decade in the military specifically the Army, I now find myself as a new student to the Fall 2024 semester at CSN.
The process for becoming a new student as CSN has definitely been a bit of a challenge for myself, first with going through the VA process to activate funds for school as well as living expenses.
Second learning the process of applying to CSN; setting up appointments with an Academic Advisor, enrolling in the appropriate classes for my degree in IT Engineering and Network-Cyber Security.
Third learning how to active online books for necessary classes and learning how to use the tools given/needed to complete assignments now that everything is mostly online.
Now the 1st week of attending classes is accomplished with meeting instructors for each class, learning a small bit of information about each subject, and completing the 1st set of assignments given for participation in a classroom environment.
I now find myself on an academic journey that will give me the tools, skills, and confidence in completing my goals for my degree and hopefully lead to a better future.
Thank you for your military service, Joshua :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to greet you at the beginning of your academic journey and foray into a career in Information Technology!
Welcome to CSN and IS101-3004, Fall 2024 ^_^
Hi Joshua,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your service. My brother is also in the military and he intends to go to college as well once he gets out so I try to make sure I thank every service member I come across. I hope you've been finding your way through CSN pretty well. I was fortunate enough to have people to help guide me but even then its still been a very scary and stressful experience. I hope that you succeed in all your classes and gain your degree. Good Luck!
Hi Joshua! I also find my whole college enrollment a bit challenging because the process was unfamiliar to me. I am from another country, and we have a different way of enrollment there. In my country, once we have enrolled, our classes will be automatically registered. So, I was still adjusting to this process. I am wishing you a good luck on your college journey.
ReplyDeleteHi Joshua! I can relate to the enrollment process being a bit of a struggle. As a first-generation college student in my family, I have had no one to really hold my hand through the process. Figuring things out has been a challenge but all it takes is a bit of time to adjust to. Wishing you the best this semester!
ReplyDeleteHi Joshua! It's nice to meet a fellow veteran! It sounds like things are improving for you! Congratulations on completing your first few weeks. College can be very intimidating at first but Im glad CSN has reliable resources to help us through the process.
ReplyDeleteHello Joshua!
ReplyDeleteThe first week is always challenging and nerve-wracking, but I'm positive you'll get through the rest of the semester just fine!
Hey Joshua, it's very awesome to me, that you transitioned to be a student from out of the military and out of the civilian workforce for a degree at CSN. That just sounds like such a hard process, with the VA and all that, to get set up with the school. Congratulations on making it through the first week! With your determination, your journey looks super achievable in IT Engineering and Network-Cyber Security.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your military service, Joshua :-)
ReplyDeleteSorry for the lateness of my comment. Yes, IS101 Introduction to Information Systems will bolster you digital literacy tools, skills, and confidence in reaching your goals and better future!
Welcome to IS101-3004, Fall 2024 ^_^
Hello Joshua, I'm glad to see you are opening a new chapter in your life. Life will have a lot of surprising things in store but hopefully it will be fun.
ReplyDeleteHi Joshua I thought I was very interested in Cyber Security as well for the wrong reasons. I thought because I was on the other end of this field and doing dumb things. I thought this could be an interesting profession for me, now I am not thinking so strongly of that because I see how hard it is, but who knows. Maybe I might pick this field up. Who knows?
ReplyDeleteYou are not alone in this. I share similar story line
ReplyDeleteHi Joshua, I am pleased you are heading in a positive direction after your time in the military. I too had some issues enrolling. Getting into the classes you need for the plan and the time frame that you have laid out can be challenging. Managing work, school and life can be an exhausting effort.
ReplyDeleteHello Joshua!
ReplyDeleteIt is always going to be a new and different experience for everyone in their first week of school and I think that you are taking it the best out of the rest of us in the class.
Hey Joshua, Thank you for your Service! I also had a hard time enrolling in some of my classes but for me it was my financial aid that was giving me a hard time.
ReplyDeleteHi Joshua you're going to do great in this class. You already seem to have a very positive attitude and I think that shows a lot these days. I though about cyber security myself but got really overwhelmed in the beginning. As time went on and I started to feel like I was improving my skills. Who knows? Maybe this will be a good fit for me after all. It's too early to tell.
ReplyDeleteHello Joshua, I think it's a great thing that you want to pursue your education especially after being in the military. It'd great that your looking out for your future.
ReplyDeleteHello Joshua, I also had trouble when I first enrollment and same with my other classes as well.
ReplyDeleteHi Joshua, I remember first going CSN right after high school and being overwhelmed with the amount of steps needed to start class. As you said making appointments with academic advisors and in some cases taking placement tests.
ReplyDeleteHi Joshua,
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, thank you for your service. I have accouple of family members who are either retired from the military or still in active duty in different branches. When I started CSN after high school a transition period was definitely needed to get the testing, talking to an advisor, and getting my classes set up.
